High on Life 2 looks awful on Series S

    1. It’s got issues on Series X too.

They used screen space shadows and reflection, so they appear and disappear based on the where you look, and both are extremely obvious in many parts of the game, especially when looking at floors and objects near the camera. Internal resolution looks lower than 900p as well. There’s a lot of object instability and shimmering at a distance; I’m thinking they’re using UE5’s TSR.

On the other hand, the lighting does look good, it holds 60fps for the most part, and the game has the weird, CGIish look the first game had but dialed up. And it feels a lot better to play with the skateboard than the first. Almost like a weird take on Halo at times, but definitely in a good way.

Haven’t tried it on PC to compare. I imagine patches will improve performance. I’m not usually picky about graphics and I’m liking this better than the first game, but some issues were hard to ignore.
