I recently bought a used 3dsxl and it worked fine when i first opened it up (with the battery dying fast at 4 bars) but it died since the charger was faulty. I got a new unlicensed charger off of eBay and it's charging, but when i go to power it on the blue light lights up and then turns off, making a popping noise. I'm only able to power it on when the 3ds is charging otherwise it doesnt work. The orange light turning off was probably a coincidence. Any way to fix this?

I don’t remember what component exactly, but its something in the charging circuitry that tells the system to switch to the battery when taken off the charger, and that component can fail when using aftermarket charging bricks, thats likely what happened to your system, it can be fixed but requires soldering and its a very small component that fails, you can send it to a shop for repairs.
