    1. I wanna buy one so bad, but it’s kinda crazy they didn’t include the original controller with the replica. A lot of games make use of the dual DPad

    2. Awesome comparison. This is one of the most ludacris Nintendo releases but I love that they did it for the nostalgia.

Wish I never got rid of my OG virtual boy

    3. Holy sheet, now I’m excited for it. It basically looks like the exact same like for like as you can get.

They build virtual boys, but not N64 Game Cube Classic? Nintendo seems to be allergic to making money.

    5. Mine is due to arrive any minute! Love how accurate it is. Makes me happy as I was never able to get one for my collection of Nintendo hardware. Even a broken one on eBay fetches over $100

Hope they release a controller or i can 3D print a facsimile out!

    6. My question is do the games look like the original with the red filter? Somehow I just have a hard time imagining the lines are at sharp or as bright as the og, but I would love to be wrong.

Also, I wish they would have added a head strap even if it’s entirely too unwieldy.

    7. Interesting that it was made in Japan, as someone who grew up in the 2000s I expected everything to be made in china but this was before 2000s

Having a proper Virtual Boy controller to go with the headset would complete the package. Hopefully Nintendo considers releasing one in the future.

    9. Does it smell like the old Virtual Boy? I remember a very strong and memorable smell when playing it.

    10. How similar is the image quality on the new one? Does it have the same “vividness” with the reds and blacks of the screen?

I legit thought you took it outside and put it on the lawn to take some pictures of it. That being said, I used to have one of these. All I ever think of when seeing it is my uncle taking me to toys r us to buy it for my birthday. And him buying the top loading NES.

    12. Does the new stand clamp fit on the original hardware? Mine had started to crack so getting a replacement as part of this deal would be even sweeter.

Back when things were made in Japan. I haven’t seen that on a product since I was a kid in the 90s. Weird 😅

    14. I did also post photos of the boxes of these units if you are interested. ( in /r virtualboy )

Just because the Nintendo Labo VR stuff works with the Virtual Boy headset doesn’t mean you should use the Virtual Boy for Nintendo Labo VR stuff.

(I’ve got the modern version as well)

      Interesting.

I like that new one has “dummy/fake” port for controller, headphone jack, and link cable (unreleased).

    17. Price is insane if you don’t got a controller with it. Honestly feel like all these are overpriced items just to use a themed controller or device like this. Using joycons for Virtual boy isn’t quite the same

It’s funny, the only way I could tell the difference between the two of them is that the newer one is Made in China.

Thanks virtual boy for giving me my first in now a lifelong series migraines, weeee tennis

    20. I’m genuinely surprised they didn’t destroy the molds of the thing decades ago.

Other than some minor differences (now made in China, they changed the model name, obviously the ports are sealed off), it looks nearly identical to the original in pretty much every way.

The bottom is where most of the obvious differences reside, though.

    21. I literally bought this because I decided it would be a weird, neat display item even if I don’t use it all that much which will very likely be the case. From my perspective it’s a cool OEM replica of some interesting Nintendo history if nothing else.

    22. Can somebody explain how this works? I used to OWN a real Virtual Boy back in Christmas of 1995… (I was a kid and my parents didn’t want to pony up the extra $$$ for PlayStation/Saturn so I had to settle for VB).

How does this utilize the Switch 2? Do you actually put your face inside the goggles and play like the original Virtual Boy, in 3D? Or is there some gimmick?

Please if somebody can just explain how the new VB works and how close it emulates the original VB. Thanks.

    23. I want to pick one of these up, but I don’t really want to drop that much for just Teleroboxer. (If you have access to it, PLAY It, it’s the best Punch out-like ever made)

    24. I ordered one, but didn’t realize it didn’t come with a controller until I read the comments on this post🤦‍♂️. And now I’m finding out the games don’t come out till tomorrow? You mean I just have to stare at it all night?! Why you do this to me Nintendo. I still love you tho
