Sharing a bit of a win. Due to physical and mental health issues, I’ve largely avoided repairing my own consoles over the last few years, as my hands aren’t as good as they used to be.

After really bad experience last week with a well-known, supposed “professional” Nintendo console modder returning my GBA SP in an absolute state, and with some encouragement from my psychologist, I gave repairing my 2DS another go.

Admittedly, I damaged the 2DS in 2022 during a botched repair. I managed to inadvertently rip the latch from the camera socket on the motherboard in large part due to hand tremors. It was one of a series of unfortunate events that knocked my confidence massively.

I tried a couple of other 3DS systems between then and now, but ultimately I missed my 2DS.

Fast-forward to today and I took the chance, and managed to rectify the issue with a donor board from another damaged 2DS system. I’m pretty happy with the results, I don’t think we ever got the Black/Red design in Europe, so I’m pretty happy I’ve been able to throw one together with spare parts.

I also added a white plastic replacement thumbstick, as the rubber on both of the thumbstick on both of the 2DS’s were in a pretty dire state, and it now kinda reminds me of a Pokeball lol.
