Arc Raiders uses very broad and non-descriptive terminology in its Ai disclosure on Steam, and its still a top seller, critically acclaimed, and a highly played gamed. Do you think we’ll see gamers becoming more accepting of Ai if they like the final product and its use is disclosed early on?

Reads like they may have used it for prototyping and subsequently handcrafted final assets used.

Yeah, when you’re off reddit and out in the real world, you find that there’s really not that much outrage over it. The overwhelming majority of gamers are just playing whatever games they enjoy, and literally not thinking about this stuff, even once. And if you try to give them some speech in person about how the game they like actually sucks because it was made by machines, they just look at you like you’re a weirdo for even thinking about that, and then go back to enjoying their games.

If the end result is indistinguishable, well then i just hope it keeps prices lower, or makes games larger in a meaningful way.

if you don’t know, they use machine learning for the pve enemy robots which is ethical ai. then there’s the TTS voice lines which they paid the Va’s to record the lines, then used those recording to turn into tts for the game. the VA’s were paid, which makes it ethical.

I’m not opposed to devs using AI if it aids them in good ways. I’m opposed to AI when it does all the heavy lifting and churns out slop games with no originality.

Couldn’t care less if a game uses AI.

Give me a game at launch that is complete, bug free and fun.

I don’t think people really mind if they can’t tell where it’s been used, the game has sold over 10m copies and ARC Raiders using AI isn’t even in the top 30 when it comes to issues with the game.

    8. One of the AI tools used was for animations, to take the mocap and handmade/adjusted animations and adapt them to basically any sort of situation that is encountered in game.

So yes, if it improves the experience, people will ABSOLUTELY be okay with AI.

The whole issue with the technology is that the tech bros have convinced moneybags to convince CEOs to stick AI everywhere, even where it does not work and where it “should” work the usage and results STILL do not improve anything. Loads of folks would LOVE a Jarvis or Cortana type of AI assistant, or maybe even something with the intelligence of the Star Wars droids and Star Trek’s Data. Instead we got a glorified autocomplete machine, which more often than not “phones home” with data about the person using the AI program, to sell off for advertising purposes.

Most people don’t scroll a steam page to the ai disclaimers. So even if they’re against the use of ai, most won’t see it. And if it’s not obvious, done badly, causing a ruckus somewhere else with drama, they’ll never have a reason to even look at it.
