I was just thinking about the Valve Corporation, and Steam. So imagine Gabe decides to retires and go to diving in the sea. Who would be the main figure of Valve? , They would keep the same tradition? The Steam main page would be filled with ads?
It's just an hypothetical situation cause an strong Corporation like Valve would take years to go to a little decay.

I mean he kind of already is semi-retired, he doesn’t do much at valve anymore these days and is more of a figure head
Nothing. GabeN retires. Valve continues to run as it has because Valve is not ONLY GabeN. Others at Valve have the same ethos/business outlook for Valve as GabeN.
Why does this have to be asked every week (What if GabeN retires/dies/leaves)?
Gaben has effectively ‘retired’ from day to day operations long ago. He’s been running racining team & marine reasearch firms since.
I guess it depends on the laws that apply to Valve.
Either COO Scott Lynch or both of Gabe’s kids would take over. From my undestranding it’d make more sense for his kids to have it, unless he specifies otherwise
i’m sure he will find someone with similiar views on devoloping steam
