was using it like normal and it decided to start powering off when the hinge is moved. I can power it on in about any orientation but as soon as I move the hinge, the device powers off. very annoying. but I am committed to fixing it. everywhere online says it is a ribbon cable in the hinge shorting out because of wear and tear. I tore the device down and inspected the ribbon cables. the camera ribbon cable seems to be the culprit. pictured in detail with the copper showing through. the other components looked fine as pictured. Looking for advice. has anyone had this issue before and successfully repaired theirs? I've never dealt with fault ribbon cables and I don't want to have to replace the screen as well as the camera assembly and speaker assembly. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

First I must put a disclaimer here: I’ve never worked on a 3DS before. (But I do work on some arguably similar devices professionally.)

I assume replacing the ribbon cable is something that’s already crossed you mind, so moving along. What’s to stop you from simply patching the ribbon and giving it a test? Some low profile tape, or an electrically insulating coating may be options(?)
