Third attempt (lost the first 2 from a pack of 3 due to dust bubbles). This one went on pretty good in terms of zero bubbles but waaay off alignment.

I can't use the usual hinge method, as these plastic films are on a single larger sheet that has both the upper and lower screen protector.

You also have to peel them off their sheet and you end up getting finger prints on the sticky side. They also bend while you're holding them, which makes it even harder to properly align them.

There must be an easy way to get this 100% right?

I always peel just a bit off and fold the sheet under it and gradually apply it to avoid finger prints. Just clean the screen first, line up the corners and you should be good. If you get dust under it you can pull it up and get it off with a piece of tape usually.

    2. It makes me laugh a little because I’ve been in your shoes.

And it’s very difficult to get it 100% perfect, however, I’ll give you some tips that, “in theory,” will make it look good.

Try to be in an enclosed space, like your room, and turn off your air conditioner, fan, or anything that creates a draft. Do this at least an hour before trying to apply the screen protector.

Heat a pot of water until it boils, and about 20 minutes before you start, leave the pot in the room where you’ll be working. This is because the steam will cause airborne particles to fall and prevent dirt buildup.

Then, when it’s time to install it, try applying it from one side to the other, or from top to bottom, using a hard card like a credit card to smooth it out evenly.

To get it aligned, you’d have to go from one side to the other, or you could use tape with an extremely soft adhesive that won’t leave any residue on your console and place it along the edges to use as a guide.

      I hope this helps.

Usually side to side, try to do it in proper light so you can really see. Take your time, getting it lined up right is worth it. Once you match up the corners smooth it as you go with your finger to avoid air bubbles.
