Don’t trust Chrome and you should be downloading your distributables and not trying to launch them because Chrome has no idea what it’s doing.

That… no programmer would word it that way. Don’t click buttons on a pop up. Instead, try to reinstall Steam and use the repair option.

It’s on an apple device
Snarky comment aside, move it to the trash and try reinstalling the software

What were you doing right before this happened and what OS is this?

Apple’s app security has gone strange lately, nothing is wrong with the Steam installer. Just look up that error and fix the settings in Apple’s OS.

*sigh* its just apple being an idiot. Reading from the other comments, just change your settings. what makes me mad is that apples antivirus is filled with so much bubble wrap that you cant even open an executable. not even a bypass button. Even worse, instead of telling you that it may be suspicious because its an executable and is not recognized, it just assumes that you’re and idiot and just defaults to saying “its broken, oopsy daisy”. it just straight up gives you the wrong information, without giving you any room or leway to troubleshoot.
