Can’t watch at the moment but I was waiting for this.
The 40fps mode feels REALLy good, I’m kinda surprised. It looks sharp too so I was curious on the actual numbers.

Fallout 4 runs really well. Docked, in the main menu, there’s an option to lock max FPS at 30 or 60. Right now, my biggest complaint and minor gripe is that opening the Pip-Boy is tied to the B button by default. Yeah, you can change it, but it’s a Nintendo thing that is present in all Nintendo ports. All in all, it’s a good port.

They dropped the ball with that Direct footage. It looked like a Switch 1 port. Tons of people still think the game looks like that.

Does it freeze up still? I tried playing 4 a few years ago and i couldn’t get past the escorting the robot thru the city because it kept crashing.

I’m betting that the footage used was old and probably from a switch 1 port that was eventually made into the switch 2 port we actually got.

60 bucks is crazy for fallout 4.

Really interested to see the impact of DLSS on this, could be a great showcase when we’ll be able to compare the pure resolution vs. the upscaled one.

I honestly think 30fps is a great way to go here, unless you’re using an OLED TV/monitor(which makes 30fps look worse). Especially since so many people will be playing on 4k TV’s and whatnot, the 1440p image quality boost is significant, or even in handheld, matching the Switch’s 1080p native resolution will provide a more meaningful boost than the footage here will actually indicate. Plus it’s the only mode where the framerate is really solid. And the game really is very playable at 30fps still.
“Well actually 1080p divides evenly into 4k so will look better than 1440p”
Not how it really works, unfortunately. TV’s dont use integer scaling like that, so anything sub 4k is getting upscaled the same exact way no matter what. Meaning the higher resolution, the better.

Still not an actual physical release so it’s as garbage as it was at reveal. 🤷♂️
