Without Mario (and ROB) video games may have never recovered from the 80s NA video game crash the same way they did.
Thats not even getting into Mario 64 being the game that made the transition from 2D to 3D possible.

Zelda’s gone I guess.
I just love pretty much every 2d/3d Mario. And the Karts, and the sports games, and Party.
There’s plenty of Zelda stuff I just don’t enjoy at the same level

Mario, I love it but it generally has less compelling gameplay for me.

Zelda’s gone, we’re talking about Mario here. THE Mario Mario.

Zelda. Mario has his own themed land in Universal Studios, one and an upcoming animated movie, a larger variety of game genres, and is arguably THE mascot of games. That’s a lot more things to enjoy and a lot more icon significance.
Zelda on the other hand only has an upcoming movie and otherwise mainly relegated to the gaming sphere, so it affects the least amount of people if it’s removed. Honestly people should have read the post body flair last time or the specifics should have been put on the post image instead, cause if more people were aware that EVERYTHING gets removed the results would have arguably been more mixed.

Zelda, Mario is way too crucial to Nintendo to get rid of him.
