the xbox one controller has a micro usb cable while the xbox series x controller has a usb-c port. So you would need an adapter for it.

Yes in fact when you buy the Series branded ones they still say One on the battery.

There are ones for Series controllers with a different cable. If this is significantly cheaper get it but age of the battery may matter.
