Smash 4 is the closest thing I have to this. Despite never having owned it, only playing demos and thinking its an awful competitive game its still a fun game and I like some of its newcomers a lot more than the average Smash Fan does.

modern Pokemon, though in reality they’re more liked/loved than they’re hated, it’s just that the hatred crowd is AWFULLY loud. not that the games don’t have reasonable criticisms (SwSh’s terrible story, Arceus’s terrible combat, ScVi’s glitchy state at launch/up until the switch 2 version, ZA’s boring setting [this is a nitpick because ZA is incredible in pretty much every other way]), but those things on their own are not enough to overpower all the excellent things about those games
Similarly, I might throw Fire Emblem Fates and Engage in here? Again, not without their valid criticisms, but those games are also just really fun and great games in their own right despite their lackluster plots
