Is it time to replace the battery, or does it just need cleaning? It looks slightly corroded and towards the bottom, the battery looks a little burnt. If I do need to replace it, where could I get batteries from?
That battery definitely had better days. Hughly probable its the issue here.
With the burning spots, I’d properly dispose of it, and I mean do it responsibly, and just buy a new one. They’re not too expensive and a new battery is always a plus!

Your battery looks a little swollen I would just replace it to be on the safe side. There not expensive like 20$ at most. Also clean the battery housing with some IPA just in case.

It is likely some liquid damage going on here, there is some light blue gunk on top of the battery which may be corrosion. But i would just test the battery by itself to see if it has enough voltage to turn the 3DS on, if it does, then you may want to send it to a repair shop.
