I do.

Nope. Regardless of what camp you’re in on exclusive games, Xbox isn’t in a position of power to have them anymore, unlike Nintendo and PlayStation. And you just can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.
Nobody will go out and buy a series x or the next pc hybrid in mass, if fable or gears of war e day is exclusive again. It’s not happening.
Cultural_Swordfish48 on
They got beat into submission. But apparently “selling 40 million” and ignoring all other context means everything is alright.
Nobanob on
I’ve been anti exclusives since the 90s. It’s about fuckin time.
RickDII on
I find it sad because, no matter what people say, it removes value from the Xbox brand and ecosystem. The more games are released everywhere, the less appealing Xbox hardware becomes and, as a consequence, the Xbox ecosystem as well. On PC, most people will prefer Steam. On console, most people will prefer PS5, and Xbox hardware will continue to become less and less relevant. Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in wonderland.
Axle_65 on
Maybe a little weird but mostly I don’t care at all. More games for more people is a good thing.
MR-CFIRE on
Not really. Microsoft changed strategies because they more money and they’ll be sticking with it
sociablezealot on
Honest question, why does it impact me at all? Unless this is a proxy for concern about xbox hardware going away?
ZypherPunk on
They never helped the console sales being exclusive or on Game Pass, so it makes sense to put them everywhere.
PepsiSheep on
Weird? Yeah
Do I care? Not really.

Outside of Fable, the other three were console exclusive (barring their PC versions) on the Xbox One and that console was considered a sales failure.
Dominjo555 on
As long as games are day one on PC they aren’t exclusives. In order for Xbox to have exclusive games we need to go to pre 2016 model and make games just for Xbox. If there is PC release day one then there can be PS5 release because the game is not exclusive no more.
Postal43 on
It’s a little weird not going to lie. I grew up with Nintendo vs Sega and every console war after.

I’d rather the studios and the staff are kept employed and are able to keep food on the table because their games are available and sold across multiple platforms.

releasing games on pc makes sense to me. on playstation is baffling tho

I find it weird but in the end I just want to play the games. On Xbox.

No. As someone who is gaming since the 1980s on countless platforms I think the very concept of platform exclusives is just stupid. It just shouts “we couldn’t convince you of using our console based on hardware and surrounding services, so we have to force you with limiting the availability of software into it”.
In other words: platform exclusives are a marketing solution to engineering problems, just a crutch that help you walk because they didn’t want to give you proper legs.
-idkwhattocallmyself on
I just dont care. I just want to play games I don’t see why it matters if they are exclusive to my console of choice or not. People just want them to be exclusive to make it seem like they didn’t buy the wrong console, which is fine but let’s stop using exclusivity as a reason.
I like my Xbox console and I’m fine with these games going multiplatform. More people get to play these great games and thats a good thing. Anything out of that is just silly consumerism and console war nonsense.
kzorz on
Well halo one was technically available on pc back in the day

Why would they be?
Microsoft makes a lot more money this way. They don’t make money by selling consoles, they make money by people buying games and subscribing to their overpriced Gamepass ultimate subscription.
Having any exclusives at all hurts this business model.

Designer_Mess_6928 on
No? I think consoles should move on and don’t stay stuck in 1990-s with exclusivity concept and being a closed system. Technological progress should go on and games should be as accessible as possible on every platform.

without something back from Sony, yes. very.
did Xbox forget what drives hardware sales? what rewards brand loyalty?
if all first party Xbox games are also on Playstation, which has its own exclusives NOT coming to Xbox, then why the hell would I buy an Xbox?
but hey, Xbox got their money. Forza on Sony was a super seller, so yay, whatever.

I agree but Xbox doesn’t do that anymore
H16HP01N7 on
No I don’t find it weird. I play on Xbox. What does it matter to me what console others decide to play on. It really shouldn’t matter to the player base. All this does is open up more players to play with, if that’s what you want. And if it’s not, it really foesn’t matter what everyone else is doing.
I see this as just another subject, blown out of proportion, by social media and YT/TikTok grifters.
We should raise ourselves above this shite.
(This is all just my opinion, if you do care about these things, you do you. I just find all this needless worrying beneath me/us. There are real problems to deal with.)

I don’t like it because I want competition in the space, but I can understand the business reasoning behind why microsoft decided to throw in the towel and stop competing directly against Sony. It is what it is. Xbox still exists and you can still play most games on it. They even have another system coming. So there’s still things to be excited about if you’re an Xbox fan.
DrkNight365 on
No not in this time. Everything is evolving and giving more players more games is pro consumer and definitely great. Knowing you can play anywhere game anywhere is amazing. Instead of being forced to buy a plastic box just to play a select few. Makes no sense anymore.
JozuJD on
I don’t own an Xbox anymore. But I still browse here and see these posts and 100% agree. It would be really cool and fun to be on an Xbox and playing these defining exclusives. Seems we are moving away from that.
I miss just turning on my Xbox and playing Halo multiplayer all night without any decision fatigue!

Gears of War will be an interesting one – technically, a PS5 version of that game hasn’t been announced (though it has been reasonably assumed for a number of very valid reasons).
If they wanted to change the optics of the brand with the new CEO and present that as a return to exclusives, it would certainly be a good opportunity to do so.
Not something I would necessarily expect to happen, but we’re in pretty interesting territory right now.
Jumpster_42 on
They all have to be Xbox exclusives. Even better? They gotta be Xbox exclusives for at least a year and then, they could go to PC. No PS, no Nintendo.
And what do we get on 25th anniversary of Xbox? Mainline franchises on Playstation!

It is annoying. Neither console had a good start to this generation, I think the reason playstation was winning was just because of the momentum from last generation and because there was no incentive for PC owners to get an Xbox. However at this point I genuinely believe that Xbox has had a way better first party line up than playstation, probably one of the best first party line ups ever, it’s just that by the time the ball got rolling they just completely gave up on exclusivity.

It’s very weird. But it’s something that’s happening so I have to be okay with it.
