Just found my OG 3ds and it had omega ruby in it. Been playing it and it’s been a blast.
My question, would it be worth it to search for a newer 3DS? I never got to experience the 3xl or any of those… how dramatic is the quality of life improvement? I’m guessing it won’t necessarily make a ton of difference?

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. You’re already in the ecosystem and the “new” systems don’t really add enough incentives to upgrade from a regular 3DS. Especially with prices and demand you are better off making do with what you have. Now if you have some expendable income and feel like the “new” systems have some features you’re interested in, go for it. It’s mostly amiibo functionality (which if modded, can be used on your system anyways) and a C-stick for 3D games like Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Minecraft.
Had my childhood 2DS all my life and finally upgraded to a New 3DS XL. Right off the bat the bigger displays were super nice, and my big hands were able to use it quite comfortably. However, it’s probably just about as portable as my slab of a 2DS; your OG 3DS will be much more pocketable compared to a New 3DS XL. I’m actually considering also picking up a small New 3DS just for a pocketable option.
I’d say that the “New” models are definitely nice (faster loading times, C stick for QOL in games like smash bros as well as camera control, and of course the exclusive games), but unless you REALLY wanna play minecraft on your 3DS (like I did haha) then I don’t think you’d need to upgrade.
If you’ve got money to spare, go for it. But in my opinion, if you enjoy playing on the OG 3DS I see no reason to upgrade. The market right now is terrible and it wouldn’t be worth it setting yourself back a couple hundred when you already have a unit in pretty good condition (from what I can see on the picture)
