FYI – I have just received the instructions to opt out of this UK compensation claim against Valve.
Opt-out form: https://optout.steamyouoweus.co.uk/
Dear Steam User
You previously contacted us indicating you would like to opt-out of the UK collective proceedings against Valve, Case No. 1640/7/7/24. We are emailing to assist you with making a formal opt-out, please read the below information on how to do this.
Who needs to opt-out
The Collective Proceedings Order has been made and it is now possible to formally opt-out of the claim. You can only opt-out of the proceedings if you are considered part of the Class. For example, if you were not domiciled in the United Kingdom on 11 March 2026, you are not included in the Class and, therefore, do not need to opt-out. More detail on the Class and the claim can be found in the official Notice of the Collective Proceedings Order.
How to opt-out
To opt-out of the proceedings, you have various options. You can:
Complete the online webform, which is found on the website here and indicates the information needed to process the opt-out;
Send an email to [optout@steamyouoweus.co.uk](mailto:optout@steamyouoweus.co.uk) including the information set out below; or
Send a letter by post, signed and dated, to: Steam Games Collective Claim, P.O Box 1435, Sunderland, SR5 9UD. The letter should include the information set out below and you can also find a template letter here.
Information neededIf you send a letter or email it must include words that clearly express an intent to opt-out of the claim to meet court requirements. The following sentence is an example:
“I want to opt-out of the UK collective claim against Valve, Case No. 1640/7/7/24”
You must also confirm you were domiciled in the UK on 11 March 2026 and provide the following details:
full name
postal address
email address
telephone number
You do not need to provide any reason for your request to opt-out.

I opted out , fucking ambulance chasers
I was gonna opt out, but then I remembered I don’t live in the UK.
There has to be a better way to opt out than to send my personal details to some random company and expect them to deal with them properly?
