Hi, I'm trying to repair an original Nintendo 3DS (1st gen) and I'm stuck because I can't find anyone with exactly the same issue.

    Original problem:

At first the console had the common issue where the blue power LED turns on for a moment and then the system shuts off with a pop sound.

Because of that I replaced the speaker ribbon cable. After installing the new cable the console actually powered on while it was still disassembled, so it seemed like the repair worked.

However, after I reassembled the console, a new problem appeared.

    Current symptoms:

    – When I press the power button the system immediately shuts off.

    – If the speaker ribbon is connected, I hear a short “pop” sound from the speakers.

    – The blue power LED does not turn on.

    – No screens turn on.

    Charging behavior:

    – With the battery inserted: the orange charging LED stays on normally.

    – Without the battery: the orange LED turns on for about 3 seconds and then turns off.

    Things I already tried:

    – Completely disassembled the console again.

    – Replaced the speaker ribbon cable.

    – Tried booting with the top screen, camera, and speaker ribbons disconnected.

    – Re-seated the WiFi module.

    – Checked ribbon connections multiple times.

The behavior is always the same: instant shutdown (with a pop if speakers are connected).

At this point I'm wondering if it's:

    – a blown fuse,

    – a damaged connector,

    – or a mainboard issue.

Has anyone seen this exact problem before on the original 3DS?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
