I got this from a thrift store and realized it had a different cord then normal

    1. It’s a breakaway connection, it connects to the cable that connects to the port on the Xbox. It helps of you trip over the wire.

    2. It’s missing part of the cable. There’s an extra part that plugs into that and has the USB connector. They’re designed so that if someone trips over the cable it breaks away and you don’t damage your console.

    3. I’m pretty sure that’s half of a full cable. Xbox controllers would have the bit that goes into the console slot into that connector you see there, so if you ever accidentally yanked the controller, you would disconnect the cable and not pull your console off the shelf (in theory)

      If you cannot get the breakaway connector that people have mentioned, then know that original Xbox is just USB in a different shape. You can totally solder on a USB connector if you cut this off connector off. Then you’ve got a PC Xbox controller.
