I have a 3ds XL with two brokens screens.
The machine works and there is sound but the red cover as well as the screens are broken.
How should I proceed to repair it myself?
Top housing replacement, top screen replacement. I think my eyes are failing me at the ripe old age of 29 but your post says both screens are broken. I can’t see any failure on the second screen just black?
But if you’re certain that the second screen is broken then I would do both screens + a total shell replacement. The latter is more difficult but still doable. iFixit has great guides on the repair and the r/3DS community is helpful.
With most electronics I wouldn’t suggest repairing something this far gone, but with how expensive 3DS’s have become, I would suggest repairing this. Good luck!

Upper mid frame, and top shell. New upper screen. It’s not that bad but I will say that getting the ribbon cables through the hinge hole is a nightmare. Watch a couple videos. You’ll get it.
