select or back button. I can never get used to that or the start button being called anything different

honestly, yeah, out of the big three, after start and select were changed, Xbox is the one where this button (and honestly the other one too) is sort of like “what is that”
like obviously they can still just be called start and select but the other two have known alternative names for them (Nintendo is Plus (+) and Minus (-) and PlayStation is “Options” and the Touchpad (you click it for the Select equivalent)

According to Xbox it’s the “View” button. Not entirely sure what that means.

It is officially called “View” but I don’t know anyone that actually calls it that IRL. Most people call it the “back” button because that’s what it was called on the 360 or the “select” button because that’s what it was called on the NES.

Most people still call it the “Back Button,” because that’s what it was called on the Xbox, and Xbox 360 controllers.
Starting with the Xbox One, it was renamed to “View Button.” At the same time, the one on the right-side of the Guide Button (≡) was renamed from “Start Button,” to “Menu Button.”

I always call it back, but officially I think it’s View, then the other is Menu, and the middle one is Capture/Share

Well back is the pretty obvious go to because that’s what it was on 360.
To my group though, it will forever be the “two window/two windows” button.
And start is now the “three line button” for us
