I want to upgrade my console but I’m not sure if I should just wait until the next generation of consoles to come out. I’m currently on an Xbox Series S.

Should I just wait until the PS6?

I bought a PS4 Pro day one. But I sat out the PS5 Pro because the improvements were too incremental. Even with PSSR I don’t think the cost is worth it and I’d rather just wait for PS6 at this point.

I don’t begrudge anyone who buys one. I get it. However if you are convinced you want one you may want to pull the trigger sooner rather than later as the cost might increase soon.

Series S to PS5 Pro is a pretty big jump. I’d say it’s worth it. I had a base PS5, and only bought one because I wanted a PS5 in another room of my house, but the series S is pretty gimped performance-wise from what I understand, so I think it’s a worthwhile move.

    4. I think it’s worth it. Especially if you would like more storage since depending on your region an extra terabyte of storage can cost a few hundred dollars nowadays.

    5. 100% one of the best experiences I’ve had
Owned a PS4 for a decade and the upgrade is Worth it

I don’t regret it at all, especially trading in the old PS5 to help cover the cost. It’s hard/impossible to really see the difference online but when I saw it in person, I became a believer. Even playing something in stable 40-60fps and ray tracing, I can’t ever go back to

I preordered my PS5 at launch and preordered the PS5 Pro at launch. I don’t regret the Pro purchase at all.

More storage, better resolution, and better performance. It’s more a matter of “can you afford it?” vs “is it worth it?”

PSSR 2.0 is the reason why it is absolutely amazing and worth every cent. 🔥

    9. Now that it seems the PS6 likely won’t release until fall 2028 at the earliest, I think a Pro is worth it for people who game quite a bit. At least I feel happy with my purchase considering I’ll likely get at least 3 and a half years of use out of it

    10. If you have the disposable income, yup. Just make sure your TV is compatible with the output.

I wanted to wait for it, but when I looked at a store and saw that I could get the PS5, a game(part of me wants to say two), a controller, & the charging stand for the same price I decided against it. Granted this was when the PS5 Pro was released, so I’m sure it may have dropped since then.

Plus I wanted the disc drive to play movies I already own. I know some will say “just get a standarded player”, but i don’t have room for that much. Plus I only watch the movies & don’t know half of what other people are talking about when I comes to other features that are missing from the PS5.

Hell nah. The PS6 is expected late 2027, 2028 at the latest. They won’t delay much further with pressure from Xbox and Steam Machine. You shouldn’t buy hardware you get less than five years of usage out of. Save your cash.

    13. It is slightly better than the standard ps5 but even the standard ps5 is a huge upgrade over the Xbox series X.

Yes. People are going to post silly reasons to the contrary, but it’s worth it.

Is it *essential*? No. Your base PS5 is just fine and will carry you through to PS6.

But PS5 Pro is more of an upgrade than people like to recognize- it just hasn’t been fully realized by many games yet.
