So I’ve been playing Pokémon showdown lately and I’m wondering why exactly Gamefreak hasn’t made another Pokemon game with full customization for battle? I mean it feels like a full heard of cash cows untouched. Plus I feel it could be a solid break away from the mainline games since they wouldn’t have to worry about a full story or open world. They can just focus on the battling and make that look awesome.

I mean the last official time I can think of them doing something like that was Pokémon battle revolution on the Wii but I think even that was limited.

Maybe I’m missing something but it feels like a mostly untouched goldmine.

    1. Pokemon champions is exactly this and it comes out next month. It’s free, will be on mobile and switch, will have rotating formats and full custom team-making on the game, you can bring in Pokemon from your other games and it’ll be where competitive tournaments like the world championships will be hosted

    2. I remember playing PBR at a friend’s house, we’d build custom teams and battle each other. I kinda wish there was a way to do that again.

      Probably because
-the stadium games were made to see your pomémon in 3d, and at the time, 3d was the hot new thing, and that’s why it sold so well (also because it was at the height of the franchises popularity but you get the point) and now 3d as a whole has just stopped being interesting, that’s why the last game was battle revolution on the wii

But yeah, its about time, i wanna see some new minigames aswell

(Pardon my english, as its not my first language)
