so my sister has given me her 3ds. the right bumper, doesn't work, so I took it apart to check the ribbon, it was connected and I even unplugged checked for rust/corrosion and reconnected, it seems the trigger itself is at fault.

my question is what's my best fix? she's said she's happy for me to mess around and try my hand at repairing it, I'm not the most gifted when it comes to hand eye coordination but I'll give anything a go!

is a button replaceable? if so, Where'd I get one from? is it a lost cause? if so, can I do something else with it instead for her? have I missed anything else out info wise or diagnostically that I should try?

thanks for reading and I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions 🤗

It is like you’ll need to desolder the button on the board, and desolder a new one on. You can generally get them from places like AliExpress, or you could lift one from a donor board.

If you want to avoid that, replacement working boards are about £40 here.

    2. You can buy replacement off aliexpress cheap, but before buying anything, Id try to clean the button with a bath of isopropyl alcohol. If it wont help, then – I never did it on 3ds but many times on ds/dsi – cleaninng the membrane? little round metal thingy inside button. Here you can see how its done: https://youtu.be/xDC-znRrJIo
