This series is the king of nostalgia. Nothing wrong with that of course, but they take way too long to make.

I wonder how things are going for Bungie. If I recall correctly they wanted to pivot from Destiny uncs to a younger audience. I wonder how that is working for them. Genuinely curious.
Also what is resonating with younger audience?

I think the 8 year gap between numbered games is the obvious but I think it doesn’t help that the big focus is an extended remake of a game from 1997. Like X is my favourite and I know that’s not far off but thats still the game my older brother grew up with and not the game that my dad played

Good luck with that releasing your games every 5-6 years

I think it’s to do with attention span, my teen would never be able to get into a jrpg, the pacing isn’t fast enough, and he’s mostly only ever playing multiplayer games. When I was a teen I would be all over Final Fantasy VII on ps1.

I was 29 when I played rebirth

I wanna play but 50 hours puts me off, more importantly i rather wait for the ps5 pro as pssr2 makes it look much better

Not sure why that’s a problem, play to your strengths, trying to compete with Fortnite is a waste of time and resources. All they’ll end up doing is alienate their actual fanbase.

I get it. I bought a brand new Voodoo 2 8mb graphics card for my PC when VII came out originally. I’m going to be 48 in June.

They need to pull a Capcom and go back to their roots. Stop trying to chase what they think is popular western audiences and trends.
I think the 7 remake series has been fantastic, but it relies so heavily on nostalgia.
Other studios have shown there’s a huge appetite for JRPGs (specifically turned based), and it’s just a shame that a lot of their huge mainline games have moved more and more away from that.

I wonder what the first Remake’s numbers were.

of course, they’re playing off nostalgia

I love Final Fantasy, I discovered the series trough Kingdom Hearts when I was 12, VII Remake and Rebirth are amazing games, but I struggle with the direction the mainline games have veered since XIII (the game I dislike the most), that coupled with the long development cycles have made it so I don’t pay as much attention to the franchise as I once did

Have they tried releasing a good game?

Well I mean rebirth is about a franchise that hit it off with adults who experienced ff7 as kids. So that makes sense

In today’s age with everyone having short attention spans and kids wanting to be on apps like TikTok and that’s gonna be tough.
Gaming is more for nostalgia fans who wanna play that experience and loved FF7. Hopefully some big creators are playing and get some fans hooked on it so experience the fun.
