Graphics looks amazing, but I’m very worried about the pay-2-win factor here with VP

    2. Im not sure to understand what’s the game about.

It’s something like Pokemon stadium, where we battle pokemon.

Can i play local multiplayer? (Like in the old pokemon stadium?)
Does 2 kids can share the same TV to play this?

I have to pay for pokemon Home to use my own pokemons. If i don’t own this subscription, I need to catch them randomly in their safari zone (limit 1 per day). then 1 week later, they will flee. Ok.
But… because a match need to have 6 pokemon in my team does it mean i have to log in every day to catch my own pokemon, then after one week, i have my full team. But if i miss my daily pokemon, i cant play?

How am i supposed to play and win if im limited with my free pokemons? (that will flee after one week?)

Why should i level my pokemon if they flee after one week?

The game seems to be built to force me to pay for Pokemon Home, or pay for VP to lock my pokemon in my team. its weird.

    3. oh shit! there’s finally a release date. i know it’s not the focus but i hope this gets some decent pve, i would love battle tower but on my phone

    4. Wish they’d just sell us a game like Stadium instead of all this pay to win micro transaction free game nonsense. I’d pay for this if it was just a full and finished product with the ability to earn rewards as rewards instead of purchases.

I’ve lost so much hype for this game.

When it first came out I thought we were finally getting an awesome stadium/showdown type game on the switch. Like the random battles or we can build our own with rentals.

I don’t want to have to grind my mons in other games, pay for home, transfer to home, and transfer to this game. You can just use wifi battles on that pokemon’s native game instead of transferring through home.

Why does the 1 a day pokemon have a time limit on it? We should be able to keep our 1 a day pokemon if you’re not allowing us to have access to the full list of pokemon for battles. I don’t want to pay 2,500 VP to keep a pokemon unlimited. Whats the point in that? Also the one a day pokemon don’t even look like they are built well. The Scizor they show at 4:55 has a special attack nature with 32 points in special attack and has Feint as a move. This is starting to feel like dangling something great in front of us just to sell home subscriptions.

If I build my pokemon’s stats in-game I have to use VP?

Also there’s a box limit? So you can’t even keep or have every pokemon you would want to use?

I would like to be able to have fun competitive wifi battles without having to build perfect EV, IV, Moveset, and nature pokemon. It’s why I don’t do wifi battles on ScarVi. Why are we just taking something we already have in every game and putting it in a new game?

i wrote this as I was watching so something may have been addressed in the video… but yeah, im not loving this unless im missing something.

    6. When it was announced that a Pokémon game was being made for mobile all those years ago, this is exactly what I wanted. Not Pokémon Go.

    7. So I do think this is a really cool universal platform for those that want to competitively battle their Pokémon that they’ve caught across all supported generations in Pokémon Home, but I hope they don’t go too deep in to the P2W mechanics. I also can’t help but notice that the environments look extremely uninspired and dull.

I’m not much of a competitive battle guy, so I’ll be sitting this one out, but I think this could be great for the targeted audience.

    8. From what I gathered, you win vp from ranked matches, which are used to recruit pokemon from a safari. You can trial them for a week without vp or buy them permanently with vp. Alternatively, you can link with pokemon Home to transfer your own in.

    9. well, so long as they don’t get sued i think showdown isn’t going anywhere lol

    10. Nice, pretty much what I expected but its cool to see it in action.

Be cool if they added challenge modes with suped up teams of trainers/champions from the mainline games as a bit of single player stuff if people want a break from online matches, or as a way to earn some extra VP.

    11. VP can’t be purchased by any means, you earn it by playing

There are other, purchasable in-game currencies to use instead of VP if you so choose

      Just a PSA

    12. Remember everyone, the important words of “Free to start”. Anything that says that means you’re going to have to pay for decent content.

    13. Mobile-Air-2651 on

Can anyone explain the stat increase system? Were they adjusting IVs or is it a new method of EVs

    14. Disappointing. All it had to be was better than Showdown and they blew it. Doesn’t even sound as good as the Stadiums. Oh well.

    15. From what I understand, you either use VP to get pokemon or you play the main games and utilize pokemon home to play champions. So either way is a win for them.

    16. >Only Pokemon that appear in Pokemon Champions can be transferred from Pokemon HOME

This is my biggest worry for this game, the fine print at 1:02. If there was a game most suited to have every Pokemon available and usable in it, it would be this one. Being limited in what Pokemon you can select from is/ would be disappointing.

I know that there are over 1000 Pokemon at this point and balancing every single one for a competitive multiplayer game would be a nightmare. However, it would be nice if they had a separate balanced “Tournament Standard” mode and a free-for-all “National Dex” mode. An additional “no legendaries, no pseudo-legendaries and no mythicals” mode would also be cool.

    17. That… actually looks really cool. Would be surprised if the “starter pack” is more than like $5 though. Wonder how the other types of monetization will work.

But spending VP and adjusting all your stats instead of actually having to think about it in terms of IV/EV will open this up to a lot of people. I liked the Grit system in Legends Arceus. Only time I’ve ever bothered with modifying Pokemon stats. But it was an eye-opener. Made such a huge difference in the late-game fights.

So having an accessible system like that could actually get me to make a competitive team.

    18. So if VP isn’t purchasable, then they only way to get ahead is to already have a tricked out roster of Pokemon in Home to transfer… which you can only get by buying the Pokemon games and playing them hardcore.

      Well played Nintendo

    19. I haven’t kept up with this game. Does anybody know if there I’ll be any single player components or is this purely PVP focused?
