Easier said than done in this economic climate but if they could capitalize on Sony’s pricing announcement by aggressively cutting their console cost and licensing games, there’s an opportunity to target stragglers who haven’t yet moved to current gen because of cost. Keeping in mind, this would be taking a short term financial hit to potentially bring long term customers to Xbox hardware. Here’s an idea with an aggressive marketing campaign behind it: “While the PS5 is now up to $900, Xbox is proud to announce for as low as $250 you can own an Xbox Series S which will include free pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI and EA College Football 27: games you can’t play on a PS4, Xbox One or even PC. Only on next gen systems like the Xbox Series S and you can get the console and both games for just $250!”
