I was walking home & saw a £5 Xbox OG games lot & two Xbox 360 controllers posted 3 hours ago on FB marketplace, the guy literally lived like 2 minutes walking distance from mine, I didn’t have change so just gave him £10 as is for the games & pads. He mentioned his daughter was in the US & brought these back with her. He had a plastic box with both consoles, a bunch of wires/cables & found another game (Metal Gear Solid 2), he just gave me those for free. I got home to find the OG Xbox is a NTSC one, has a US power lead & came with a power converter. I’ve since played the game on the console which are all PAL and they work? It’s been opened so does it have an old mod chip inside? I’ve found receipts from my local Blockbuster from 2010 inside the game cases, the consoles saves are around 2001, so I’m just wondering if this has some sort of really early mod chip? I know for a fact it’s a US console because of the power lead & the day/month are switched. The games were from CeX & had old stickers with the /UK on them, so around the time they sold units/software from other countries.
I only bought the lot for the Metal Gear Solid HD collection & needed some of the OG games for my collection. Not sure what to do with the console since I’ve a Green Limited Edition Xbox with a Xecuter 2 mod chip. I just want to know if it has a mod chip inside this unit, to see if it’s worth opening up. The lot also had a load of PS cables & I checked the Xbox memory to find more games on that, so potentially will get more & had offered to give him reasonable prices. The X360 pads are corroded, X360 no power supply (unsure it works), the OG Xbox stuff all works & the games aren’t too scratched (MGS HD is like new), I’ve cleaned everything up because it was covered in dust. He also said if he found more in the loft, he’d let me know.
