I don’t think the lore ever had any impact on the games anyway. It’s always been just a side thing.

Movie only. They just released a port of SMG1 and 2 that added an epilogue chapter of the original book and a sequel to it that references Rosalina and her mom. Movie and games are clearly two different continuities

I read that in a recent interview Myamoto stated that this backstory was not initially included in the games and they found the opportunity to include it in the movie, but I’m not sure about that, it could be false.

From the way Roas talks about Peach in the galaxy referring to her as Mario’s “special one” games it doesn’t really imply she knows her.
But then again Miyamoto has never really cared about keeping consitent continuity.
