So in other words it’s worse in every way to Showdown.

Im enjoying it, but it just doesn’t compare to revolution, which came out in what 2010?

I’m having fun, but yeah it just lacks a lot of content.

People not getting that they are doing “season” like batch releases of the Pokémon and items just don’t know how to read. When you look at the banner in game it shows that this set of Pokémon is until June, when they will both add new Pokémon/items, and make balance changes to the current list.
Anyways, I’m having fun with it lol.

Big pokemon fan here but this game is pointless and 30FPS on Switch 2 is ass

How can you have low expectations and still be disappointed?

Animations and FX are the best Pokemon has ever looked.

Seems to me like they’re pushing VGC rules. Doesn’t surprise me given the game’s emphasis on competitive play, but still quite limiting regardless.

Damn. Sucks seeing corporations destroy heavy hitters because they don’t want to spend the money they will undoubtedly get back ten fold. Greedy bastards want their money now despite having more than they need to be fed, healthy and housed.

Is this game basically just Pokemon Stadium with microtransactions?

Gamefreak has one of the worst aesthetics team on planet Earth. Also goes for ILCA.

I’ve played this for a few hours today and I’m enjoying the game.
30 fps (Switch 2, handheld) doesn’t bother me in this game and I don’t really notice it. The limited roster for the launch is a plus for me as there is already a lot to turn and the limitations make the game more accessible (have played Pokemon games for a long time, but never really dipped into the competitive aspect). Monetization is surprisingly fair as you cannot buy currency or tickets, so it doesn’t feel P2W. You get some currency even when you lose battles, so the frustration potential is pretty low.
The only negative that stood out to me is the occasionally communication delays during battles if someone doesn’t have the best internet or they are far away (internet-wise). Or maybe it’s a load issue. It’s not a huge deal though.
Above all, I’m having fun, and that is all I want from a game.

Ya’ll realize this is for Competitive Pokemon right? This isn’t supposed to just be a fun mess around game where you can battle your friends with anything you want. Regulations are always putting pokemon in and taking Pokemon out. You will never have all 1000 pokemon available at the same time, it’s always going to be a subset to keep the game fresh and force people to try new strategies and relearn the format when they change to a new regulation. Otherwise the game gets stale and people stop playing it.
And it’s interesting that items will be one way they keep things fresh if they don’t end up having them all available later. If all of the sudden Assault Vest is gone, how much does that change teambuilding when you can’t give a free 50% spdef boost to a mon?
Yes it being at 30 FPS on Switch 2 is disappointing.

I won’t speak to the performance, but as this appears to be the app to get casuals into competitive matches it makes sense that the content would start limited.

Not to mention you literally have to look up how to transfer Pokemon from Home to Champions because the game still does a terrible job explaining some of the mechanics despite how much of a slog the tutorial is. 😮💨

6v6 is ass. Who wants to be in an online battle that long?
Edit: the matches are already long as is, and you need to have 3 wins to even get out of the lowest part of the lowest rank. Which has four parts. AND if you lose, you lose the same amount that you gained. I am 4-2 and still in the lowest

These companies want to make live services and go “ok we have this thing that’s kinda fun but gets old really quick. So we’re done.”
I would love to have way more stuff that could easily be implemented. I really liked the gym leader castle thing from Pokémon stadium. Just do that for all games for minimal rewards. That would incentivise getting 3 Pokémon that are strong against a certain type. You basically want your players to want more Pokémon. But they think the IP being Pokémon so they are just going to want more automatically without a reason for it
