The game studio Cats Who Play is producing games with straight out Russian propaganda.

In the game called "Ukrainian Warfare Gostomel Heroes" they are spreading lies and celebrating the invasion of Ukraine and specifically Bucha, where war crimes happened. They blame Ukraine for the whole thing. You only get to play as Russia.

I am shocked to see this on Steam, why is this game studio still online?

    1. I want this removed from steam but only after all the USA/Israel propaganda is removed. Starting with Call of Duty and Battlefield, how about that?

    2. It’s not surprising, to be honest.. If you start searching up for games like these, you’ll find at least dozen of them.

    3. I mean those are the same devs who made Syrian Warfare where you play as Russians bombing UN observers and Journalists in Syria.

    4. I hate these military propaganda games that forces its developers’ county agenda so much…

Anyways I’m going to play some COD, anyone with me?

Isn’t there a game that is developed by the US military to literally be a recruitment tool?

Just don’t buy it, US also has many propaganda video games, do you even care about it?

Thanks for the heads-up. I used the Report feature (looks like a flag, next to the Embed button on the bottom of the righthand info section) and suggest others do the same.

More than 700 positive reviews from russian speakers šŸ™‚ Who could’ve thought that they will actually, unironically like a propaganda “game”. Russians will forever like propaganda more than actual truth.

    9. Hell, now I’m looking forward to play it just for a different flavor of propaganda.

Have wondered about an Iranian/Taliban/Hamas side too. I think a mix of tactical-FPS would fit better a la XCom 2.

CoD and MoH are just games but these are propaganda right?

So? Bro there’s literally everything on Steam. Counter their propaganda with another game.

    11. Guess we need to get rid of CoD too and Arma and tons of other games.

If you hate other countries just say so.

There are ton of other propaganda games on steam why dont they bother you? There are also literal games that glorify german and soviet warcrimes they also dont seem to bother you

    13. Why would it? Basically every war game based on a real conflict is propaganda to one side of the conflict.

    14. Well I mean, Stalker 2 deleted a lot of Soviet content like it never was part of Ukrainian history. It’s just what happens during war. Each side throws propaganda whenever they can.

    15. Steam is a private company. Its primary interest is making a profit. They do so in a comparatively less immoral way than other companies. Still, their activity is videogame sales, not politics. I say all this as someone who has supported Ukraine in the defense of its sovereignty and right to statehood since day one. Also, hasn’t Steam held sale events for games made in Ukraine?

I don’t want my point to be ‘neutrality is fine’. It’s just unrealistic to expect a business to go out of it’s way to fight a political cause with all its resources.

But historical games that shows battles – you play on winning side, D-day or Battle of Stalingrad and we all know what happened to russian airborne in Hostomel, weird shit.

Well having a platform that doesn’t censor people is a two way street. Yeah it’s dumb but just ignore it and move on.

The gameplay must be fire tho… Drop from the helicopters, take position, wait, die.

    19. Lol @ some of the comments here. Big surprise that there is a different reception to western games when the platform is created and run by the yankees, plus we’re also on an American-based forum.

No shit that Muscovite games won’t get the same treatment

The funny part being they lost the battle of Gostomel. Shows what a failure their war is if they chose to make a game based off a battle they lost and ultimately ruined their ā€œ3-dayā€ invasion plan. The joke is on them

Atomic Heart was straight up Russian propaganda too but no one seemed to care since they wanted to fuck the robot girls.
