I mean it meets all the criteria on paper. Only one way to find out I guess

That premium heatsink won’t get a premium fit tho

Not going to lie, but that heat sink looks huge and probably won’t fit in the m.2 bay of the PS5. It may fit if the cover isn’t installed but even that might be a stretch.
try to find one that has a PS5 logo maybe?
to be sure.

Won’t fit. Too tall

That heat sink will almost certainly not fit. It’s been a while since I installed the expansion drive in a PS5, but I believe there was very little clearance above the expansion slot.

just remove the heatsink

Heatsink is too big; buy it but remove the heatsink, by a thinner heatsink off of Amazon for like 10$ and you’re good to go.

Yes it will work. Will it fit in the PS5 with that heat sink is the real question.

Yes, Honestly this might be compatible with the ps6 because that will have a gen 5 drive too. So try to keep it if you sell your ps5

100 bucks a terabyte is unfortunately better than market price by a fair margin right now for TLC nand. Doubtful you need a gen 5 TLC drive for a PS5 but it’s solid and will definitely work.
Look into the actual dimensions of the heatsink. A lot of times they look much bigger on the box than in reality.

Supposedly runs kinda hot, so I’d keep an eye on that SSD and get the largest heatsink that still fits in the PS5 slot.

You can get the heatsink off and put a new, smaller one btw. Its probably just a couple screws, if that.

Gen5 works no problem on ps5, just it will run same speed as a gen4 ssd
As others said though, heatsink is too big on this model

Best thing to do is buy an ssd without a heatsink and buy a sink separately. For some reason they charge way more with one already on but if you diy it saves a ton of money

Price-wise, yes. Real good in this economy.
Problem is, it won’t fit. And Crucial’s heat sink is fairly difficult to take out.
But on the other hand, this will definitely work with your PS5 if you want to force it.
