Hi everyone,

I plan to buy a 3DS in a few months from Japan. Just curious what the best cities are as I plan the travel itinerary. Likely going to Tokyo, but as long as a place isn't too far out of the way I'm fine visiting it. Where should I look? What prices should I expect for a new 3ds model?

I got my new 3ds ll from a second hand store called book-off two years ago for around 21,000 yen (around $130-$140 USD). Theres tons of locations around Tokyo and other popular cities, so its definitely worth checking. I can’t guarantee you’ll get a good deal like i did considering how cooked the 3ds market is rn, but I wish you luck! They have a nice selection of special editions if you’re looking for them specifically, but damn the tomodachi life and one piece variants were like double to triple the regular price.

Also I think theres a variant of book-off called head-off which specializes in electronics rather than books, so check out those locations too.

    2. Part of my trip to Japan was searching for 3DS’ and what I learned was the farther out from the city you go, the cheaper things will get. I bought a few Original 3DS for like $30 each after doing some 20ish minute walks from smaller towns. Especially around Hiroshima and Far North of Tokyo.

Book-Offs and Hard-Offs were the highlight of my trip. So much cool stuff to see and sometimes very cheap.
      Good luck hunting!
