I want to buy a 3ds but I can't decide between getting an XL or NXL since I prefer the colour of the mint blue XL but it doesn't have the C stick and its less powerful. I believe they're a very similar price so I don't know which to buy

The 3DS XL’s hinge is very poorly designed and it will crack. It’s only a matter of time. I’d personally go for the New 3DS XL instead
I bought that 3ds a while ago and just bought a new 3ds xl. The original one is perfectly acceptable (the one I got was a bit older and not super well taken care of w/ a hinge crack which is why I got an updated one) but the new one is of course nicer. The price difference is no joke though you can do everything you’d want to do with a N3DSXL with the reg one. Maybe buy the reg like I did to see how you like it and if you feel it necessary go for a N3DSXL later.
Just be careful with your hinges on the original they are prone to cracking
