When I got my OG PS5 one of the first things I did was buy a two terabyte m.2 SSD and it made my experience much better.
When I upgraded to the PS5 Pro which already had two terabyte internal, I feel like I have too much space now. I never need that many games on my system.
So I’m still exclusively putting all my games on the m.2.

No, the nerfed PS5 Slim 750gb storage is crazy. My PS5 Pro’s 2tb and my PC’s 4tb are more than enough to hold dozens of games.

Blame Sony, not the actual games.
Releasing the original PS5 with only 825GB was such a greedy move.

I’m hoping that next gen or beyond they really crack the compression and file requirements (languages/voices being a big one) so that downloads are a lot smaller. Will still take up more room when unpacked and installed but if it’s quicker to download then people will be less worried about deleting and redownloading. Especially on slower internet speeds.
Could be a money saver on next gen hardware if they don’t need to put a 2tb or bigger built in hard drive just to keep up with game sizes.

AAA corporate overlords are partly responsible.
A lot of dead code and unused assets are left in games these days that make games larger than necessary.
They could be optimized to be smaller, but developers want their games published as soon as possible so removing bulk when the game works well enough isnβt a priority.

By five modern games I imagine you mean very large AAA games? Because silksong and hades 2 donβt take up that much space.

I gave my old base ps5 to my brother loaded up with games. Cyberpunk, Ghost, Spiderman, and a few others I’ve thought he’d like. Downloaded on my account but made sure they were still playable on his.

He deleted all of them so he could install COD.
Are we back in 2020?
Pragmata isn’t big at all.
The other games tho, holy shit…
