It had a protective film on both sides of each case half. I peeled off the inside layer, clipped them on, then peeled the rest. Is this normal for clear protectors? Was I supposed to clean it beforehand?
Forgive the dust, I was playing some games and testing the ergonomics as well as recalibrating the touch screen since I put screen protectors on it. The dust is firmly on the outside and the console itself was wiped with iso less than 5 minutes ago.

Not oil, just a weird looking air bubble effect.
Be aware that this kind of case is known for leaving scratches and even peeling the borders of the paintjob on metallic New 3DS XLs (anything that’s not SNES/Famicom, Pikachu and the white/Fire Emblem editions).
TPU is suggested as its way softer, and safer on the console finish.
