    Final Fantasy XIV launches on Switch 2 this August



    Just revealed at the FFXIV FanFest in Anaheim. Switch 2 players can play XIV without an NSO sub, and will receive a 50% discount on their XIV subscription on Switch 2 if they have a subscription on another platform. There will be an early access period of about a month where you can play for free before subscriptions will kick in.

    On a related note, the game's free trial is expanding to include the Shadowbringers expansion this Tuesday. The new Evercold expansion launches in January.

      Good to have it, but the seperate subscription from the other versions sucks. Nintendo, come on.

      Picking up the expansion again when it goes on sale? Cool. Two FFXIV subscriptions when no other console does it that way? Go screw yourself Nintendo.

      I’ve been wanting to try this game on my PS5 but never did because I don’t have a good way to hook up a keyboard and mouse and thought it might not be enjoyable without one.

      Is it actually good with a controller or a pain?

      Great if you plan to only play on S2 due to their separated subscription.
      If you want to play on PC and Switch its bad

      FINALLY!! I used to play XIV on my old PS4 until I lost access to it. Got all the way up until Endwalker. Hopefully XIV performs well enough on my Switch 2 utilizing my Wi-Fi in portable handheld mode. I will have to start from scratch but I don’t mind. I imagine I may have to upgrade my Xfinity Internet for better download speeds.

      Some people will be happy and I will be happy for them, but just FYI to newcomers this game is a grindfest. You have to play through the whole base game before it gets good. Then beyond that point I am told it is amazing.

      They had to pull service from the PS3 due to hardware limitations and rumors are saying the PS4 is getting axed after the next expansion. How long is the S2 going to be supported with its significantly weaker hardware?

      Are accounts platform dependant or “cross-progress” ? Meaning when S2 version comes out can we just jump into it where we left off on pc for example and continue playing there paying s2 subscription?
