DK's redesign: make him much more cartoony and expressive for our new game especially since we want to refresh his look
Star fox's Redesign:this game is meant to be a serious more story oriented version of star fox 64 (one of our best selling games) so we should make the designs more realistic looking to compliment the more serious angle we are going
thats atleast how i kinda see nintendo's reasoning for such a massive redesign for the cast (similar reasoning to twilight princess and how that game's designs and tone is meant to be way more serious especially since a lot of fans were not really wanting a more toony zelda game despite that game being pretty good)
also i kinda like the designs they're not that bad (even if the whiplash is GREAT on them as i was caught a bit off guard by their designs initially)
either way i hope this game does well (since this franchise needs to escape the "doing only star fox 64" cycle its been on)

I feel like DK’s redesign just took some time to get used to more than anything, and that’s probably what’ll happen with StarFox
This is one of those things that makes me feel like I have some type of facial recognition issue or something because I truly don’t know why everybody is in an uproar
The designs look fine to me
