I took out my NDS lite from the drawer and it looks like the battery cover is about to burst open.
It doesn't have the original battery. Several years ago (probably like a decade) my mom put in a new one she bought online from idk where because I only had a few minutes of play time before it would die. The new one was a bit sketchy because the battery level wasn't accurate.
Now I'm kinda scared to open it. Can I safely swap the battery myself? Does anyone has recommendations what to do?
BTW it was stored with all my other electronics, powerbanks, game cards and Nintendo products so it would have been kind of a disaster if it spontaneously exploded.

I’d handle that carefully and immediately. Don’t risk an entire house being burnt to the ground just because of reasons.
