Obviously Nintendo is going to want to release sequels and different franchises after the commercial success after the Mario movie.

But not everything needs to be a “cinematic universe”, almost every single entertainment entity that has tried being the “new Marvel” or “new mcu” has failed. The MCU is like Fortnite it’s a lightning in a bottle type thing you simply just can’t recreate it on your own.

We don’t need Nintendo or Mario becoming a DCU or Star Wars MCU like flop. Even Marvel themselves are having issues with the whole cinematic crossover universe, because it’s not sustainable long term and was lightning in a bottle in the first place. It’s like trying to win the lottery again after just winning the lottery.

All Nintendo needs to do here, is work with the animation companies and tell them just make enjoyable, safe, market tested movies with mass appeal like the Mario movie, instead of going with all the cinematic universe nonsense that’s a convoluted mess not just for a viewer but the entertainment producers trying to chase unicorns and make some “Marvel Avengers endgame” equivalent, because you can’t replicate a once in a lifetime type thing.

I hope they take their time and if it makes sense for there to be connected stories than do that, but don’t force it

I think a smash universe could be fun, it will, probably be really bad knowing American film quality recently.

How many cinematic universes is Crisp Rat gonna be in?? So far he’s in the

      – MCU

      – M(ario)CU

      – Jurassic Cinematic World

      – Michael Schurnematic Universe

      – Garfield CU

    5. I loved the first movie so I’m happy to see Nintendo make more, would love to see expansion into other Nintendo IPs like Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero. I could even imagine them making a Yoshi kids TV series, we already had a Kirby TV show and that was awesome

He is speculating. I doubt that they would go for a Smash-like cinematic universe. The Mario-Kong world is expansive enough to constitute its own cinematic universe. The Zelda world is best off on its own as well, or it would overcomplicate things. But I could imagine them placing Metroid, Star Fox and F-Zero in the same universe for a string of movies.

No he didn’t, he just said that nintendo will very likely make more movies of their ips in the future. The fact that nintendo is making a Zelda with Sony, which is still so weird to say even now, and that it’ll be live action shows that nintendo isn’t going to try to make a ncu. It wouldn’t work either, nintendo different game series don’t take place in a single universe for the most part like marvel and DC.

    8. I wonder if this will come out in Japan while we get a reskinned version of another movie in the US

    9. I just wish they would switch Pratt put for someone else. Just can’t tell the difference himself, and all the characters he has played…..there’s no difference between them and it’s boring.

Feels like hearing Troy Baker in every game…ugh

    10. No he does not. Clickbait title. In the interview, he’s simply speaking as a Nintendo fan who says that he ***WANTS*** a Nintendo Cinematic Universe. This is in no way a hint towards the future.

I want to make a joke about the 2nd movie being like the 2nd game, where you were teleported to a different Doki Doki world…. but, I got nothing.

I would believe that more if they weren’t going with a live action Zelda movie. How would they mix these IPs since they use different art styles?

    13. I surely hope that Nintendo won’t saturate the market with video game movies. They have been going at a nice pace lately.

Sonic scored some success and is already going to its third movie, along with a TV series.

I don’t think I will ever want to watch another super hero movie again after the MCU went trigger happy.

They have to build up to a Smash Bros cinematic event, it’s just begging to happen lol. Could actually be super fun if done correctly. Build up characters in their own movies, leading to Master hand (maybe crazy hand too?) as the final movie boss.

They’d almost certainly have to make him talk but maybe it could work as a mustache-twirling type villain? Give him a voice actor with presence and some chaotic energy
