Context: months ago, Bloomberg reported that Take-Two layoffed the entirety of the Private Division teams (i.e Roll7 and other developers). In a recent earnings calls, IGN reported Rebekah Valentine ask “was Private Division layoff or not?”, CEO TakeTwo Strauss Zelnick answered: “no”.

And now this. My hearts goes out to those employees being affected

      >*But two of my sources expressed apprehension about such a deal and its connections, citing a 2022 VentureBeat report alleging “oppressive” work conditions at Moon Studios. One source I spoke with confirmed that “everything” in the report was “true and worse” and another called the studio’s founders “cruel” and “a nightmare” to work with.*

Reminder that when Microsoft closed Tango and Arkane, the CEO of Moon Studios retweeted something super condescending like “Now THIS is why we never wanted to be acquired by anyone” even though at this point basically everyone knew about the allegations around their work culture and why Microsoft probably doesn’t even want to do another Ori game

The fact that all of it is worse than initially illustrated makes that even more ironic. If No Rest for the Wicked is unable to secure a new publisher in the event Private Division goes under it’s completely on them
