The game already got a port on Wii with more “basic” controls. It’s actually my favorite version of the game and I agree. I personally prefer Jungle Beat (Wii version) to Returns.
To get more specific the Wii version changed quite a few things from the original.
– DK now has a standard heart/life system in the Wii version
– No giant DK in the corner of the screen like the GCN version instead in the Wii version the camera is zoomed in closer so DK is bigger on the screen
– Wide-screen support
– The bongos are no longer usable. Instead of clapping you just shake the wii remote and instead of banging on bongo drums you just shake the Wiimote and nunchuck in a drum like motion.
– The beat/banana threshold was lowered in the Wii version so it’s easier to get gold/Platinum crests at the end of each kingdom.
– New 100% crown DK can wear when you 100% complete the game not found in the GCN original.
– Some enemy placement has been changed in certain levels.
The Wii version is such a solid platformer that was so overlooked that yeah a Switch version I would’ve really enjoyed.
