Switch 2 sales during the holiday season were -35% in the United States, -16% in the UK, and -5.5% in Japan compared to Switch 1's 2017 holiday season. If each regions sales decline were applied globally long-term, this would end up being 100, 129, and 145 million sales respectively for the Switch 2 long-term. If you combine Switch 1 sales in the UK with Switch 2, sales of Nintendo consoles overall were up 7% in the UK compared to sales of Nintendo consoles in the 2017 Holiday season. This could imply that the long-term popularity of Switch 1 is eating into potential Switch 2 sales. So overall these sales still seem very good for Nintendo in context. Do you guys agree?

    1. I think I have to write this over and over again. These are still just november circana numbers. The origin article wrote „November-December“ so misleads that these numbers are from November AND december data. But Circana estimates will come 21. january. So this is just november where Us was in a shutdown for weeks and had the badest month for economy since ages.

Here the post of one of the representives of circana: [https://bsky.app/profile/matpiscatella.bsky.social/post/3mbwgesbprk24](https://bsky.app/profile/matpiscatella.bsky.social/post/3mbwgesbprk24)

“There are some things floating around out there about December sales that are being attributed to Circana.

To be clear, Circana has not yet published any December monthly data. Heck, I’m still waiting to see the prelims for the month.

      Just an fyi.”

    2. Go outside or play games instead of investigating a billion dollar companies sales figures

    3. Ok? Are Nintendo fanbase so insecure that they have to make sales thread to make them feel good about themselves?

    4. I’m just analyzing and speculating on data for those nerds who care. You can move along from this post if this doesn’t interest you.

    5. I don’t think it’d worth fixating this much on console sales, especially when the reason redditors were wasting their time on them was misinformation as always.

No need to fixate on the whims of redditors, they’re not intelligent enough to accomplish anything.

    6. Holiday sales were lower than 2017 across the board, not only for switch 2. This points to broader issues with purchase power of families and economic landscape of countries.

Any attempt to infer the health of the switch 2 using it is bad faith analysis
