>The live-action Legend of Zelda movie will be streamed exclusively on Netflix following its “theatrical and home entertainment release periods”, Famitsu is reporting.
>Under an agreement with Sony Pictures Entertainment, the adaptation will join the likes of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, The Nightingale and the Beatles’ four-part film series by shifting to the streaming platform.
>The wording of this agreement suggests the movie will be available for physical and digital purchase following its cinema run, before moving exclusively to Netflix’s subscription-based streaming platform.
>The movie is a co-production with Nintendo and is scheduled for global release on May 7th, 2027

The Mario movie was on Netflix for awhile (now it’s on Amazon Prime Video for some reason)
Maybe Netflix has a good relation with Nintendo

Oh yeah, I forgot Sony is technically producing the Zelda movie.

Netflix and Sony have had a deal covering all their movies since 2022, Netflix is first to stream. This isn’t new for the Zelda movie.

I feel like they should not announce these things before the movie comes out. Now audiences with Netflix know they can just wait for the movie to come to streaming, and that could hurt the turnout for the theatrical release… sure most movies come to streaming, but you usually don’t which service, and when. Frankly, i think the fact that EVERY disbey movie quickly ends up on Disney+ is a reason why many of their movies have done poorly in recent years
They should have saved the announcement until after the release

The prophecy of a live action Zelda on Netflix back in 2015 will finally be fulfilled

I really hope its good, and therefore does good, so that the nintendo land area at epic universe gets a hyrule area.

Seems a bit early to announce streaming plans.
Like, REALLY early.

Not surprising considering Sony and Netflix have been collaborating and have a good relationship for a while now. It’s actually interesting that Sony was one of the few major studios that didn’t try to force their own streaming service and just kept with the tried and true model of just licensing out their library to Netflix and other streamers
