I think if you compare the games released during the first 9 months before the Switch 1s first holiday to the Switch 2s 6 months, it’s kind of apparent why, Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild alone are almost impossible to beat

The switch 1 had an extra 3 months to release games. For example if the switch 1 was released when the switch 2 was released (june). Mario Odyssey wouldnt have been out by December yet.

This isn’t surprising. Unlike the Switch the Switch 2 was widely available at launch so all the early adopters already got a console near launch. Couple that with no new 3D Mario and it’s easy to see why the Switch 2 had zero chance of cracking into the top 5. I think 26 has the ability for a much bigger December even amidst a potential price hike. If we get the Triple whammy of a CoD, Pokémon, and Mario during the fall/holiday then it’s going to sell regardless of price.
