Mods, please delete if not allowed.
Looking for some advice.
Let me preface this by saying I have very little knowledge about the 3DS in general and the different limited edition versions released. I bought this New 3DS XL Fire Emblem Fates Edition back in mid-2016 for $250 AUD and it has spent the better part of a decade sitting in a drawer as I mostly play PC games. I've only used it a handful of times—I'd estimate less than 30 hours of total power-on time.
Recently, I’ve been seeing videos about the 3DS and all the cool things people are doing with theirs which sparked my interest in finally using it. Out of curiosity, I looked up my version and was surprised to see how popular this specific limited edition has become. I also saw something about screen types but I don't know enough to say for sure what it has.
My question is: am I better off selling this to a collector who will cherish its condition, then using that money to buy a standard 3DS XL to mess around with? Is this version really that sought after/rare?

screen types don’t really matter, people say they do, but I promise, most people wouldn’t even know the difference if no one told them there was one. I say this as someone who has one of each lol.
also, get a game or two and play them! don’t worry about modding yet, just play it stock and see what you like. A lot of folks nod them and put so many games they get overwhelmed by choice and never play what they have. There are so many great games that aren’t super expensive too. What games were you looking to get into? Im happy to give recommendations.
And yes this version is well liked by collectors, be happy you have one, I know I would be lol

With the box and in mint condition, you could get up to $1,000 on this. Not saying this out loud to be a part of the problem. However, it is your property to do as you wish and times are hard for us all.

Easily the best new 3ds XL LE released. I should have picked this one up back in the day.
