The way that microsofts incompetence is lately it’s more likely to have the weaknesses of the xbox OS combined with the weaknesses of windows

I like the fact that there would be multiple stores available, but yes, I do worry about the Windows part of it. The reason I like playing on Xbox is because I don’t have the PC headaches. The console is built from the ground up with a television in mind.
The fact that a more open console is supposedly the future, I do get worried about cheaters. The more open something is the more modding and cheating there will be. And as you could see with Call of Duty®, anti-cheats sometimes work and sometimes they don’t.
I may just end up switching the PlayStation if they stick to a more traditional approach because from what I’ve seen from Microsoft, is that everything they do they tend to do it half-assed. And I expect the next Xbox with Windows to be no different.
I hope I’m wrong, but everything including Microsoft history tells me I won’t be.

A device with access to PC storefronts would be giving up the software cut on games and DLC to steam, on top of that they cant force people to buy their subscription to play online. Those are the 2 things that allow a console to be subsidized.
So a Xbox console as powerful as a PS6 (or more) would have to cost well over $1000. Another thing I dont understand is why people have been acting like the next Xbox getting PC storefronts is 100% officialy confirmed.

I expect the Windows side will be more usable on a controller and tv than it is currently, but will still need continued work. Some of that might be due to timelines, some might require work from third parties like Steam, some will simply be because releasing a product into the world uncovers things that no amount of testing will uncover.
I’m not concerned about the Xbox side, or this feeling like an Xbox. Despite the fact the Windows teams will be providing a lot of support, this is ultimately an Xbox.
They really haven’t given us a tease on just how this will work or what features it’ll have, but hopefully we get more on that this year.
