So maybe a week ago I closed my ds screen and when I came back this odd black shape appeared a few pixels big. Occasionally the shape changes by a few pixels or so. What caused it? How to fix? And does it have a name for it? It stays after rebooting.

Looks like screen rot/cancer unfortunately. The LCD panel is starting to die. These are dead pixels, and for some reason they start to spread and get worse.
I seen a comment in here that someone unintentionally left their 3DS in a car overnight in freezing temperatures and that actually cured it for some reason! But only option I know is a replacement screen.
