Battery Calibration

Hi! I ordered a replacement battery for my 3DS XL from ifixit and I haven’t been able to get it to calibrate even after several tries of following the instructions. My 3DS flashes red for nearly 2 hours before it begins to shut off. Then I have to repeatedly turn it on for 2 seconds at a time for 15-30 minutes before the power button finally does nothing. I’ve then charged it overnight without using it. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and actually found a fix? My original battery still worked just fine and isn’t swollen but it’s 12 years old and I was hoping that changing it would’ve been a good idea, however this is frustrating..
