Hyped af! Will buy both of them and probably even in multiple languages!

This is one of those things were everyone online will be complaining about it, saying they won’t buy it, and be top #1-3 seller list on the eshop for months
sarcastic_pikmin on
For having it on the go/big screen, pokemon home support, and cheaper than the physical cartridge nowadays I have no problem spending $20 on this game.
Such good memories growing up playing this, I remember sitting eagerly by the mail box waiting for it to arrive from ebay.

i can already see the hatred for this on twitter and here on reddit and its inevitable rise in best selling page on eshop.

I’m already tired of people complaining. I for one am very excited! Can’t wait to play this on the bus on the way to work.

Game size: 40MB!
I wonder if there are any improvements/QoL features added (site states nothing of the sort)…?
Hope more retro games get eShop releases.

ITS $29.99 In Canada.

Well at least it’s cheaper than the Z-A DLC 🙃

$20 for these is embarrassing when they put 0 effort into this. People will buy it for nostalgia and GameFreak will make another couple million. Biggest media franchise in the world can’t even put a smidge of effort in and sells the languages separately.

I’m happy its an option at all, but they’re being so greedy when they should’ve just added this to NSO, hell even add it to the eshop years ago.
Buuhhu on
The thing is dislike about this is that they sold us the GBA NSO for the reason that it would feature GBA games in the subscription but now they release standalone for certain games they know would be popular?
I know most prefer the Buy and download, which I also tend to agree with, but having both just makes the GBA NSO *even worse*… what the fuck is the point of it then?

Genuinely curious, for anyone who is excited for this, why would you not just play it on your phone? This is such an old game that it literally runs in a web browser. It’s not the kind of game that requires physical controls. Home support barely matters, everything from Kanto is easily available. Are you just excited to give Nintendo money?

It was such a badly kept secret that they just dropped the pre order early lmao

No Online Play is a massive bummer. I think it’s rather greedy to ask for 20 Bucks for a port without any online functionality.

Virtual Console prices in 2026 be like

It’s rated a 3 on PEGI. Aren’t games with gambling supposed to get a higher rating by default?
ESRB gave this port an E10 while the original was just an E.

What’s the point of their classic collections if their just going to hold the better games back and charge more for them

This may be a stupid question, but I’m not well versed in Switch (as my gf owns one not me). Will this be available to play on Switch 1/OLED? I assume so if it’s just an eShop game

The price is not meant for us old fans but for the new fans/players who may not even played this game before.
Derpkip_ on
I’d be fine with this price if it was for both versions and all languages the fact that you need to pay extra if you want to play in a different language is ridiculous

Do the majority of people give an f about Pokemon home? Also for 30 bucks would have been nice if they threw on the original red rom as well without any connectivity since it seems unlikely they’ll sell it now.
Highthere_90 on
Why not put this on the gba emulator instead?

I’m disappointed. It’s the 30th anniversary, no physical release or releases of other retro games like emerald.
Instead a game that already was on the Wii u and DS…

It’d be good if it had an option to speed up the text. That’s the main quality of life issue in any Pokemon game. Doesn’t look like it has that option though.

lol why is this not part of the expansion pass.. would’ve boosted their subscriptions.
DJ_gunner_101 on
Im hoping this is just the start of what they’re doing and we’ll end up getting all the old games well obviously not the DS ones sadly since we don’t exactly have a spot for the second screen

Oh man, my childhood beckons. I’ll have to check which version has which Pokemon before getting one lol.
This is awesome! Now do Johto and Hoenn too, pretty please.

Fire Red. I went out of my way to catch every pokemon in a regular poke ball.
I learned that I could catch level 70 Fearow at full hp by just tapping a at the right time. To this day I’m uncertain if I was crazy or not. I did do it, but idk if it was just a glitch I did on repeat or if I tried it without pressing a.
I know Mewtwo gave me more trouble, but I’m pretty certain it was less than 15 pokeballs, and significantly easier than the original games…

Is it widescreen? I know that’s sacrilege for some people for some reason but in 2026 I’d like to use the full screen of my device
